
3-6 Orientation Certificate Course
Participants who complete the certification requirements will earn the internationally recognized AMI 3-6 Orientation Course Certificate.
This course is a comprehensive program designed to provide educators with a thorough understanding of the Montessori approach to early childhood education. It is designed for educators who work with children aged 3 to 6 years and want to learn more about the Montessori approach as it is applied in the Children's House (early childhood) setting. It is best suited for Montessori assistants in 3-6 class, but it can also serve as a good stepping stone for people generally interested in Montessori education or in children of 3 to 6 years of age.

An orientation of the principles and practices of a Montessori early childhood centre or preschool classroom of children from 3 to 6 years of age. The AMI Orientation is a 60-hour course with an additional 9 hours for Observation.
During the course, participants will learn about the fundamental principles and practices of the Montessori approach, including the role of the adult in the Montessori classroom, the importance of a prepared environment, the child's independence, critical thinking skills, and the child's development from three to six years of age. Overall, this course is an invaluable resource for educators, parents, and anyone seeking to gain a deeper understanding of the Montessori approach and its application in early childhood education.

Dr. Montessori wrote and spoke extensively about preparing adults to support children's development. This course will deal extensively with this role and the various aspects of 3-6-year-old children according to the principles of the approach. In the course, we will learn, among other things, how to support children in developing independence and deepen our understanding of Montessori's approach to freedom and discipline..
All students of the course will have the opportunity to learn from a very experienced AMI Trainer Jennifer Shields, study alongside colleagues from all over the world, engage in lively discussions, share their experience with others as well as gain new perspective themselves. All successful course graduates also receive a worldwide recognized international certificate from Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).
Certificate Requirments

Completion of 90% attendance of live sessions.

60 hours of live lectures and guidance, self-study, reading, and essay writing.

3 written assignments on given topics.

9 hours of obligatory observation to be done within 12 weeks after the course.

The Trainer
Jennifer Shields
Jennifer is a primary trainer for the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). She holds both the AMI Primary and Assistants to Infancy diplomas. Jennifer earned a B.A. in English Literature from Georgetown University and an M.Ed. from Cleveland State University. She worked for over fifteen years in Montessori schools as a teacher, assistant, and administrator. She is an examiner and consultant for AMI, presenting at workshops and conferences both locally and worldwide.
Jennifer joined the Board of AMI Global in the spring of 2019. Jennifer loves observing in classrooms, coaching teachers and teacher trainees, and spreading the insights made by Dr. Montessori.
